Manchester United manager David Moyes has
confirmed he will be without both Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie for
Sunday's FA Cup third-round tie against Swansea City at Old Trafford.
Rooney has been nursing a
groin problem and was pictured on Friday leaving a private hospital in
Manchester having had further scans to establish the extent of the
injury. Van Persie has been out of action for three weeks with a thigh problem and is not yet ready to return to action.
Ashley Young will also miss out against Swansea with a shoulder injury, picked up during the much-debated challenge on the winger by Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris on Wednesday.
Phil Jones (knee), Rafael (groin) and Nani (hamstring) all missed the defeat to Spurs, but Moyes is keen to rotate his squad as much as possible.
Pablo Hernandez joined Swansea boss Michael Laudrup's growing injury list when he limped out of his side's defeat to Manchester City with a hamstring problem after just eight minutes.
Laudrup is likely to dip deep into his resources after the striker joined Michu, Michel Vorm and Nathan Dyer on the sidelines.
Leon Britton is also doubtful after illness, and Roland Lamah or Alejandro Pozuelo could start in Hernandez's place.
