Sportmasta readers vote for Ronaldo to win Ballon d'Or

Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery were completely swept away by the Real Madrid attacker's popularity, as he took 60 per cent of the polled responses
Goal readers have backed Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo to win the 2013 Fifa Ballon d'Or ahead of Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery.

The Portugal international got 14.957 votes, a whopping 60.1 per cent of the total 24,872 votes that were cast.

Messi, who won the inaugural three editions of the prestigious individual award, has to settle for second spot with 5,376, which represents 21.6% of all votes.

Ribery, meanwhile, got only 18.3% of the votes (4,539) and comes in third in our poll despite playing a key role in Bayern's historic treble-winning season.

The winner of the Fifa Ballon d'Or will be announced at the Kongresshaus in Zurich later on Monday, with Goal covering the event every step of the way.
