Chiriches urges Tottenham to prove their mental strength

Chiriches urges Tottenham to prove their mental strength Tottenham centre-back Vlad Chiriches has urged the team to show mental strength as they seek to extend a four-match unbeaten league run.

Following a 5-0 hammering at Liverpool on December 15 that represented Andre Villas-Boas' last game in charge, Tottenham have claimed three wins and a draw under Tim Sherwood.

The upturn in results has left Tottenham just two points adrift of a Champions League spot and Chiriches is eager to keep spirits high by securing three points against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

"It's very important to win and to keep winning," the Romanian told his club's official website.

"That will help us with our confidence. It does help to have a good run of games where you're picking up results.

"If you're strong mentally it's easier to win games. I think it's obviously very important to pick up another win, especially because it's a derby.

"A positive result will help us to go further up the table, which is obviously where we all want to be."
