The 27-year-old impressed in his initial loan spell with the Whites – making 24 league appearances last season – and is ready to push a transfer through after being left out of Sunderland’s squad for a pre-season trip to France.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, new Black Cats manager David Moyes is not interested in giving Bridcutt a chance to prove himself and are wanting to offload the former Brighton man as he enters into the final year of his contract.
Bridcutt is believed to be earning £28,000 a week on his current Sunderland contract and is valued at £1.5million, which could be a stumbling block for Leeds.
However, with all parties still keen to agree a deal, there is hope that Bridcutt can become a permanent member of the Leeds squad before their Championship season opener against QPR.
United manager Garry Monk, though, is remaining tight-lipped on any transfer business conducted by the club.
Monk said: “We’re always looking at different players and names will be mentioned.
“Everyone will have assumptions and whispers of who we’re going to buy but I like to keep those things quiet until there’s something concrete to talk about.”
