Leverkusen can beat Bayern, says Leno

The goalkeeper sees no reason why Sami Hyypia's men cannot spring a surprise, while sporting director Rudi Voller thinks they will need to play out of their skin to win

Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno believes that the club's performance at Paris Saint-Germain in midweek showed that anything is possible - even a "sensational" win at Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Sami Hyypia's men have been in shocking form lately, failing to win in seven matches, but they put in a solid performance in their 2-1 defeat at the Parc des Princes, which was a far cry from the 4-0 first-leg defeat at their own ground.

Although they are just two places below reigning European champions Bayern in the Bundesliga, they are are a whopping 24 points adrift of the leaders.

However, Leno is nonetheless optimistic about the team's chances at the Allianz Arena.

"If we play like we did at PSG, we definitely have a chance," the 22-year-old is quoted as saying in Bild. "It would be a sensational win in that case.

"We are not driving to Munich just to be guests."

Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller was highly critical of the 4-0 loss to PSG last month, but he thinks the German outfit proved in the French capital in midweek that they have not lost all heart.

"The troupe have shown that they're alive," Voller said. "We have to play out of our skin against Bayern to win. And we need another outstanding performance from Bernd Leno."

Bayern have not lost a single game in the Bundesliga this season and are edging towards a seemingly inevitable title with 20 points currently separating them from second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
