Several players that pollute the first team would get nowhere near the starting XI’s of the club’s domestic rivals and they will continue to amble along until they are replaced.
The likes of Jonny Evans, Anderson, Ashley Young, Tom Cleverley and Antonio Valencia are all in and around the first team, but none have done anything to keep hold of their places. Meanwhile Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs and Nemanja Vidic are all slowing the team down.
Wanting to give players the benefit of the doubt, or a start with a clean slate is admirable enough, but on a wholesale scale like that it’s positively suicidal.
