Josep Maria Bartomeu believes that Sunday's Clasio success proved that Barcelona remain the "best in the world".
Some pundits have argued that the Blaugrana are coming to the end of a cycle, with a number of their star players now the wrong side of 30.
Their
recent slip from first to third in La Liga was seen as evidence of this
perceived decline, but Bartomeu says that Tata Martino's men proved
their enduring class during their dramatic 4-3 win over Real Madrid at
the Santiago Bernabeu.
"For us, nothing changes," the Barca president told Sportmasta. "We have great trust in our players.
"Personally, I have always said that our boys are the best in the world and on Sunday they showed that again.
"They played so well."
The
win over their great rivals drew third-placed Barcelona to within a
point of both Madrid and leaders Atletico. Consequently, Bartomeu is now
confident that the Catalans can successfully defend their Liga title.
"We
are now only one point behind the two teams ahead of us," he mused.
"We'll try to give everything in the remaining games to retake control
[of the league]."
