Getafe 0-3 Real Madrid

Sportmasta rates the players on show as Los Blancos claim three points against their city rivals to match Atletico Madrid and Barcelona on 60 La Liga points...

  • Miguel Moyà

    2

    Miguel Moyà

Was unlucky to be on the losing side today as he put in a terrific shift in between the sticks, and kept the scoreline relatively modest. Pulled off a string of solid saves from long range strikes from Di Maria and Modric, and could not really have did much else to prevent the goals.
  • Alexis
    3

    Alexis

Was looking for a fight pretty much all evening and got involved with spats with Benzema and Sergio Ramos. Was probably trying to take attention away from his defensive performance, which was ineffective to say the least.
  • Lisandro López
    0
    1

    Lisandro López

Should have burst a gut to cover space in behind Valera for Madrid's first but jogged back without a care in the world. Barely got near Benzema all night and allowed the Frenchman the freedom of the pitch to affect the play.
  • Juan Valera
    0
    0

    Juan Valera

Was turned inside out by Jese for the opening goal as he allowed the Madrid man far too much room and freedom to cut inside on his right to score. Earned a yellow card in the second half as he realised the only way to stop the youngster was to pull his shirt.
  • Carlos
    0
    0

    Carlos

Made a couple of marauding runs down the left-hand side on his starting debut for Getafe, but nothing really came of the rare ventures forward from him. Did okay against Bale on the right-hand side, but allowed him to cut inside on his stronger left foot too many times.
  • Jaime Gavilán Martínez
    0
    1

    Jaime Gavilán Martínez

Had a woeful first half as he failed to adapt to the tempo of the match and lashed out with five or six poor tackles in frustration. Second period didn't improve much, and although he calmed down, he didn't offer any creativity at all.
  • Pedro León
    2
    2

Pedro León Flop of the Match

Set-pieces were hot and cold throughout the night as sometimes they caused real problems but on other occasions his crosses were shallow. Still, his delivery into the box was still a source of creativity.
  • Diego Castro
    1
    0

    Diego Castro

Was employed just behind the main striker in an attempt to link the play between midfield and attack, but didn't do his job and wandered slightly deeper, which meant Colunga was isolated in attack. Held the ball up well on occasion but didn't really link up with the other attackers.
  • Juan Rodríguez

    0

    Juan Rodríguez

It was very noticeable that this was his first start of the season. Looked off the pace pretty much from the get-go and barely got near the Real Madrid fielders in his attempts to press. Improved as found his feet and manages to get in a few tackles.
  • Borja
    1
    0

    Borja

Provided a veteran head in the middle of the park at times as he attempted to calm the passing down of the home side. However, looked off the pace as the match went on as the Madrid midfield drifted past him. Substituted just after the hour mark.
  • Adrián Colunga
    0
    0

    Adrián Colunga

Had Getafe's two best opportunities in the first hour as he twice was through on goal, but took too much time to get a shot away on the first and blazes the second wide. Was withdrawn before the hour mark for Lafita.

Substitutions

  • Lacen

    Lacen

Added some fresh legs in midfield
  • Lafita

    Lafita

Improved the attack slightly as he added a physical presence in the box.
  • Diego López Rodríguez

    Diego López Rodríguez

Had one dodgy moment in the second half when he flapped at a Pedro Leon cross into the area, but was ultimately a solid presence in goal for Madrid. Wasn't his busiest night and didn't have much to deal with in terms of shot-stopping.
  • Pepe
    1
    1

    Pepe

Lost concentration on one occasion on the first half which allowed Colunga to bear down towards goal, but recovered with a fantastic last-ditch challenge. Was dominant aerially and headed out a number of Pedro Leon set-pieces into the box
  • Sergio Ramos
    1
    1

    Sergio Ramos

Didn't get the yellow card he was looking for that would see him lose next week's match against Osasuna instead of potentially, Atletico. Just went about his business at the back and had barely broke sweat at the end of play as he had no real threat to contend with.
  • Marcelo
    5
    0

    Marcelo

Was a constant threat on the overlap down the left-hand side and made his signature bursting runs on the wing to offer an extra attacker up top. Set up Modric's goal in the second period and almost got on the scoresheet himself with a shot from the edge of the area.
  • Arbeloa
    0
    0

    Arbeloa

Often found himself up against two players as Colunga and Gavilan doubled up on the left-hand side, but dealt with his defensive duties with composure. However, attacking play was dreadful as he continually made the wrong decision after a few runs into the box.
  • Gareth Bale
    2
    0

    Gareth Bale

Passed up a glorious opportunity in the first half as he found himself with the whole goal in which to aim six yards out, only to drag a strike wide. Drifted in and out of the game in the second half, as he went through the motions to see out the match.
  • Xabi Alonso
    1
    1

    Xabi Alonso

Allowed himself to be pulled into a bit of a midfield battle, which frustrated him at times. Eventually composed himself to dictate the play from the middle and hit diagonal passes to the wings which always hit their mark.
  • Luka Modric
    3
    0

Luka Modric Top of the Match

Played in a slightly more withdrawn role tonight as it was the turn of Di Maria to make the bursting runs from midfield. However, didn't hamper his ability to affect the match as he regularly and expertly distributed possession. Scored the third of the match with a cracking 25 yard strike.
  • Ángel Di María
    3
    1

    Ángel Di María

Had a pretty quiet opening to the match but eventually acclimatised to the tempo and game a potent threat. Instigated counterattacks with his pace and, as well as assisting Benzema's goal, tested Moya with three powerful shots from outside the box.
  • Karim Benzema
    0
    1

    Karim Benzema

Grabbed Madrid's second goal 27 minutes in with an assured, chested touch down in the box and an emphatic finish on the half volley past Moya. Always had a spring in his step when on the ball and linked up with his fellow attackers superbly.
  • Jesé Rodríguez
    0
    0

    Jesé Rodríguez

Got the goalscoring ball rolling for Los Blancos with a wonderful shift inside and curled strike into the far corner. Gave Valera a torrid time down that left-hand side with his electric pace and continues to allow his stock to rise with his performances.

Substitutions

  • Casemiro
    2
    0

    Casemiro

    Cameo apperance
  • Isco

    3

    Isco

Was introduced in the second half and was neat on the ball.
  • Asier Illarramendi

    0

    Asier Illarramendi

    Slotted in nicely in midfield.
