Fenerbache are set to sign Lazar Markovic on a season-long loan deal - but Liverpool want the winger to return to Anfield.
The 21-year-old
Serbia international joined Liverpool from Benfica last summer in a deal
worth around £25million but made only 11 Premier League starts in his
first season at Anfield and has now featured at all so far this term.Liverpool are therefore keen for him to play regular football and have sanctioned a move to Turkey, but The Guardian says the Reds still believe he can succeed at the club and have therefore not included an option for the deal to be made permanent.
Markovic was part of a huge spending spree by Brendan Rodgers after the club qualified for the Champions League - a splurge that reached over £110million and included nine new signings. He will be the fourth player of those nine to leave, following Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Javier Manquillo.
Markovic, who has 20 caps for Serbia, began his career at Partizan Belgrade as a youth player and moved to Benfica in 2013, where he scored five times in 19 appearances in the Portugese Primeira.
