Manchester City v Chelsea player ratings

Manchester City's SAS - Silva, Aguero and Sterling - were hailed by the media after Sunday's win over Chelsea, for whom Branislav Ivanovic struggled.
The story of John Terry was one of the main talking points from Manchester City's 3-0 dismantling of champions Chelsea on Sunday, with Sky Sports, The Times and The Sun all seeing fit to grant the club captain a rating of 5/10 for his insipid performance. His half-time replacement Kurt Zouma fared little better, with the Frenchman scoring an average of 5.5/10 from our four sources.
Chelsea's defence was run ragged by City's attacking verve, with Branislav Ivanovic a particular weak point in the Blues' back four. The Times handed the Serb a 3/10, which was by far the lowest score given to any player from the clash. Sky Sports, The Times, the Daily Mail and The Sun were all in agreement that the club's busy goalkeeper Asmir Begovic was their best player, even with a relatively low average of 7/10. Indeed, only Nemanja Matic (7/10, Sky) and Eden Hazard (7/10, Daily Mail) managed to score higher than 6.5.
On the other end of the scale were the irrepressible hosts, for whom their lowest average scorer in Jesus Navas (6.3), ranked higher than all of the opposition except Begovic and Hazard (also 6.3/10).
The most impressive in City blue was their attacking triumvirate, with David Silva (7.5 average), Raheem Sterling (7.4) and Sergio Aguero (8.1) proving too hot to handle at the best of times.
Another star performer was Fernandinho - awarded man-of-the-match by many an outlet - including The Times, who handed him 9/10. Not quite as generous were The Sun, whose Opta-fuelled ratings saw the midfield goalscorer receive just a 6/10. That mark of three was the highest gulf between any ratings from our selected sources.
Here are the average marks for the 22 starters at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon....
Manchester City: Hart 6.8, Sagna 6.8, Kompany 7.8, Mangala 7.4, Kolarov 7.5, Toure 7.3, Fernandinho 7.5, Navas 6.3, Silva 7.5, Sterling 7.4, Aguero 8.1.
Chelsea: Begovic 7, Ivanovic 4.5, Terry 5.1, Cahill 5.5, Azpilicueta 5.5, Matic 5.9, Fabregas 5.9, Ramires 5.6, Willian 5.9, Hazard 6.3, Costa 6.
