Enyimba crash to AS Real Bamako in Aba

Zenke - Moussa Ballo

The Aba Millionaires are in real danger of crashing out of the CAF Champions league after a 2-1 surprise home loss to visitors as they travel to Mali for the reserve fixture

The Nigerian lone representative in the top continental competition almost ended the first 45 minutes of the game without goal, until Sibi Gwar fired home on the stroke of half time to put the Nigerians ahead.
On resumption of the second half, the lead for the People’s Elephant was short-lived as poor defending allowed Mohammed Cisse scored the euqalizer for the visiting Malian club in the 64th minute.
Later in the 76th minute, Amadou Samake grabbed the second for the visitors as they took the lead 2-1.
A late rally for Zachary Baraje's side through late substitions failed for the Aba Millionaires as they slumped to a defeat at the end of regulation time.
The return leg holds in Mali next Sunday with the winner on aggregate qualifying for the next round of the competition.
Enyimba had earlier dumped out Togolesse league champions, Anges De Notse in the preliminary stages on 4-3 aggregate win but would face an uphill task if they hope to progress past the first round stages.
