Strootman on course to join Manchester United, says Advocaat

Dick Advocaat believes Kevin Strootman’s performances for Roma have put the midfielder on course for a move to Manchester United.

The 23-year-old was linked with a switch to Old Trafford before he joined the current Serie A leaders in July.
Advocaat, who managed Strootman at PSV last season, admits he was surprised that Europe’s elite clubs rejected the chance to sign the Netherlands international in the summer but feels another transfer may be close.

“Strootman is a pure professional,” Advocaat told sportmazta

“It frankly surprised me that he did not get to the absolute top last summer and was on the side a little.

“I do not think he will stay at Roma that long. If Kevin is at this level, he will be plucked away.

“And then it will be a team of the calibre of Manchester United.”
