After his side lost 4-3 to Jose Mourinho's men, the
Uruguayan has no doubt that the Blues will go all the way in the league
this season, also hailing midfielder Eden Hazard
And former Chelsea midfielder Poyet talked up his old club's title credentials, while admitting he was "disappointed" to not claim a share of the spoils.
"I am sure, I can tell you after playing Chelsea that they are going to be champions," he told reporters.
"When you score three goals at home to a team like Chelsea then you expect something from it.
"I'm sad and I will go home a little bit disappointed."
Poyet also praised Hazard for his individual impact on the game and has now shifted his focus to his side's upcoming clash with Tottenham.
"Eden Hazard was outstanding," he said. "He was unplayable, as a manager I haven’t come up against anyone like that.
"The players in changing room just now have given everything. But unfortunately I don’t have a second team to send out on Saturday.
"We will rest tomorrow then we will pick ourselves up and prepare to beat Tottenham."
