Silva fitness boost for Manchester City
The Spanish playmaker has missed his side’s last four matches with a calf injury but has been given the green light to return to full training

Manchester City playmaker David Silva has been given the green light to return to first-team training after a month out with injury, Sportmazta can reveal.

The Spain international limped out of City’s 5-2 demolition of CSKA Moscow a month ago and has missed his side’s last four matches.

Silva has been back in light training for a fortnight but has now been allowed to step-up his rehabilitation and return to full sessions.

The 27-year-old is likely to return to the substitutes’ bench against Bayern Munich in the Champions League next week. Should he come through unscathed he could well be in contention to be selected against Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

In Silva’s absence City have continued their free-scoring form on their own patch, with 13 goals in three games against Swansea, Tottenham and Vikoria Plzen.

City currently trail Arsenal by six points ahead of Wednesday’s trip to the Hawthorns where they could welcome back skipper Vincent Kompany who has been out since October with a groin injury.
