Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa missed Saturday's defeat to Newcastle as a result of having his stomach pumped in midweek, manager David Moyes has revealed.Moyes explained that Kagawa "ate too much" and reasoned that he preferred not to risk him against the Magpies.
"Shinji was very sick after the [Everton] game and he did a bit of training on Friday but he was low," the Scot told the press.
"All of the stats that we look at were low so we felt we had better not take a risk in case we got an injury by playing him.
"It was a bad sickness. He thinks he ate too much and he had to get his stomach pumped but I think he is okay."
In Kagawa's absence, United fell to a second consecutive defeat as Yohan Cabaye's deflected goal made the difference at Old Trafford.
