Everton 0-3 Man Utd, Chelsea 2-0 Aston Villa

HAZARD OMISSION 'A TACTICAL DECISION' - MOU

Jose Mourinho has revealed he benched Eden Hazard for today's 2-0 win over Aston Villa because Chelsea have been conceding too many goals with the Belgian in the side.

"I left out Hazard because we are conceding lots of goals. Willian and Pedro did amazing defensive work. It was just a tactical decision, hoping the team would be more solid," said the Chelsea manager.

"I continue that way [leaving Hazard out] or he comes in our direction, and tries to play that way. I told players this is not the moment to think about personal situation, or moan, to be selfish. This is a moment for the team. I asked them to look at the picture in a different way. I have to try bring results back."

The Portuguese also revealed he took off Ruben Loftus-Cheek at half-time because he wanted 'more solidity'.

"He's brilliant with ball, doesn't look 19 with it, but without the ball he doesn't look as good tactically," Mourinho added.

UNITED AT THEIR 'BEST' – LVG

Louis van Gaal said today's 3-0 win at Everton was one of Manchester United's 'very best matches'.

"I think it was a very good performance, I've said to my players I am very proud of them because it's one of our very best matches. We needed that because Everton is a very good team. But in the second half we could have scored more, but if you say clinical because of the way we have played then I have to say OK because we controlled the game for 80 minutes," said the United boss.

"Only when the referee gave free-kicks around the 60 metres were Everton dangerous. I've seen a lot of players who have played very good, but that is also because the result is good. I was very happy for example, and if I have to mention one name I have to mention Ander Herrera. He played very well and had a good contribution on the goals."

Asked if today's star performer Ander Herrera was undroppable, LVG said: "Yes because it is dependable on the game plan of each game, and that is why he played today. But of course when Herrera is playing like that it is difficult to not select him."

BIGGER TESTS AHEAD FOR RAMPANT CITY

Goal's Sammy Lee reports LIVE from the Etihad Stadium at the final whistle:

"I could re-post my half-time update now such was the low-key nature of the second period, save for Wilfried Bony's late strike. Manchester City win 5-1 against Bournemouth with most of the goals and action coming in the opening 45 minutes.

Raheem Sterling's hat-trick will hog the headlines and rightly so, but Bony was back on target with two goals and that's very good news for Manuel Pellegrini. City have bigger things to worry about now with Sevilla and United on the horizon, so the opportunity to take the second half easy will be very welcome here at the Etihad. Job done."

UNITED STROLL TO VICTORY AT GOODISON

Goal's Kris Voakes reports LIVE after the final whistle at Goodison Park:

"This one was billed as a real test for Manchester United but in the end it was a stroll for Louis van Gaal's side, who never took a step back from the moment they went ahead through Morgan Schneiderlin on 18 minutes.

Ander Herrera and Wayne Rooney both scored deserved goals, and in the end the only disappoint for Van Gaal will be that they didn't score more. Rooney played as the main striker and looked much livelier than of late, while Herrera was busy in behind him and helped to stretch Everton regularly.

The threat of Anthony Martial and Marcos Rojo on the left was also constant, meaning it will now be difficult for Memphis Depay and Daley Blind to get back into the United side."

One of the buys of the summer, Dmitry Payet, makes this game safe with the Hammers' third against ten-man Palace.

GOAL! MAN CITY 5-1 BOURNEMOUTH (BONY)!

It's another for Bony. Sammy Lee, at the Etihad, reports LIVE:

"Just as this one was looking to peter out, Jesus Navas breaks away down the right, tormenting the left-back, and puts in a low cross for Wilfried Bony. The striker controls it, swivels and pokes in left-footed, punching the air as he lies on the turf in celebration. 5-1, not long left and the City fans head for the exits. Job done."

GOAL! PALACE 1-2 WEST HAM (LANZINI)

West Ham's brilliant away form looks set to continue. Andy Carroll, a second half sub, heads the ball down for Manuel Lanzini to rifle home from close range.

Palace have played the whole second half with ten men – and it's told.

GOAL! REAL MADRID 3-0 LEVANTE (JESE)!

It's brilliant from Jese Rodriguez, who skips past a defender in the box and smashes the ball into the roof of the net with his left foot.

 ROO'S RELIEF

Before that goal at his old stomping ground, Wayne Rooney hadn't scored in his last 17 away games since November 22, 2014 in 2-1 win at Arsenal.

His celebration was muted...a kiss of hands, a stare at the sky and a jog over to the United fans. Once a Blue...

GOAL! EVERTON 0-3 MAN UTD (ROONEY)!

It had to be him, didn't it? Here's Goal's Kris Voakes, reporting LIVE from Goodison:

"3-0 to United. For the second time in the match Wayne Rooney bursts through to beat the offside trap, this time from a lovely throughball by Ander Herrera. The United skipper advances and drills past Tim Howard to kill off the game."

 'VOLLEY OF ABUSE'

More from Goal's Kris Voakes, who is at Goodison Park, where LVG is not a happy man:

"Louis van Gaal says he never stands up during a game, but he did just now as he launched a volley of abuse at the referee's assistant for awarding Everton a throw-in which clearly should have been given United's way. The Dutchman ended up having quite a heated discussion with the fourth official as Everton wasted a good chance from a free-kick which followed."

 'RARE DOUBLE'?
Goal's Sammy Lee reports LIVE from the City of Manchester Stadium.

"We need had a very rare double there; a Jesus Navas assist for Wilfried Bony. The Ivorian striker hits it straight at Adam Federici, however, so it's still 4-1."

GOAL! WEST BROM 1-0 SUNDERLAND (BERAHINO!)

Big Sam will be furious.

GOAL! CHELSEA 1-0 ASTON VILLA (COSTA)!

If Tim Sherwood does lose his job at Aston Villa soon, this could prove a pivotal moment. The visitors were well in this game but they gift Chelsea the lead. Joleon Lescott makes a hash of Brad Guzan's poor pass and Willian is able to march forward and square for Diego Costa to open the scoring.

Easy as you like for Chelsea.

LIVE: EVERTON 0-2 MAN UTD

"Everton are trying to get back into this one, but while Romelu Lukaku just beat David de Gea to a high ball there was no blue shirt around to make the most of it," Kris Voakes reports.

"For the most part United look fairly comfortable, but Phil Jones has just spent a good few minutes receiving treatment for a bloodied nose. He's just returned to the pitch, allowing Bastian Schweinsteiger to step back up from his position as emergency centre-back!"

LIVE: MAN CITY 3-1 BOURNEMOUTH AFC Bournemouth

Sammy Lee reports: "Raheem Sterling has arrived! He might not have even been in the team had David Silva been fit but he's now scored two in the first half an hour.

"This one was a work of art. Running at goal, he cut inside into the box, sat down two Bournemouth defenders and coolly slotted past Adam Federici. 3-1."
