Echiejile in, Enyeama out of European club competition

Echiejile in, Enyeama out of European club competition
The Super Eagles duo recorded contrasting fates as the French Ligue 1 2014/2015 season came to a close on Saturday night
Nigeria internationals Vincent Enyeama and Elderson Echiejile were on parade for their respective Ligue 1 outfits as the French topflight 2014/2015 came to a close on Saturday.
Enyeama put up a five-star performance as Lille harassed Metz 4-1 away at the Stade Saint-Symphorien while Echiejile came on as a second half substitute to help Monaco pip Lorient 1-0 courtesy of Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco’s first half strike.
Monaco’s victory ensured they finished third on the log with 71 points from 38 games and will now feature in the Champions League qualification.
On the other hand, Lille’s massive away win could not help them seal a place in the Europa League after losing the slot to Olympic Marseille and Saint-Etienne who ended fourth and fifth respectively.
Echiejile’s side were bounced out of this season’s Champions League in the quarter-final by Juventus, while Enyeama’s Lille did not make it past the Europa League group stage after finishing bottom of the zone which had Everton, Wolfsburg and Krasnodar.
