U23 head coach Samson Siasia has confirmed that he would hand Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi his first Nigeria cap during the tour of Tunisia if the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are able to convince his club to allow him extend his stay with the team.
Siasia hinted that the youngster has shown enough quality and willingness to represent the country of his birth despite the preference of his coach at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger for him to represent England.
Iwobi's father Chuka hails from Onitsha in Anambra State and he with Austin Okocha were part of those that convinced Alex that he has a future with the Nigeria national teams than with the English side who are noted to use and dump most Africans that ditched their nations to play for them.
Sportmasta can confirm that the NFF has already written to Arsenal with a view to allowing Iwobi extend his stay in the country beyond the Sunday notice given by the club
