Liverpool sponsor mock Reds’ title drought with embarrassing tweet

Marcus Rashford: Heroics prompted Liverpool sponsors' tweet
Liverpool’s new watch sponsors scored an embarrassing own goal after sending a tweet mocking the Reds’ 26-year wait to win a domestic league title.
Holler, a Los Angeles-based watch brand, linked up with Liverpool on Tuesday to become the club’s ‘official timing partner’.
But what seemed a perfect partnership looks to have turned sour within hours when the company sent a tweet trolling Liverpool over their long wait to win the English league title, with their last success coming in the 1989/90 season.
Marcus Rashford: Holler tweet attracted criticism
The tweet came after Marcus Rashford has scored a hat-trick for England Under-21s on Tuesday against Norway, with the company posting a picture of Rashford with the caption: ‘When Arsenal last won the league Marcus Rashford was 6-years old. When Liverpool last won it his dad (sic) was 10.’
The tweet was shared widely and attracted plenty of criticism from Liverpool fans, before it was later deleted.
Liverpool have yet to comment on the tweet, but they’ll no doubt be keeping a close eye on their new ‘timing partner’ to ensure a repeat is not made.
