Iheanacho absent as Manchester City cage stubborn West Ham United
Though certified fit for the Hammers, the striker was an unused substitute in the Citizens’ league victory at Etihad Stadium
Kelechi Iheanacho made Manchester City’s squad for Sunday’s contest against West Ham United, but was an unused substitute as his side cruised to the English Premier League summit.
The prodigy was stretchered off in the Citizens’ Champions League win against Steaua București, but Pep Guardiola claimed Iheanacho had no injury worries and hinted he would feature against Slaven Bilić’s team.
However, the 19-year-old watched from the bench as Raheem Sterling’s double powered the Manchester based outfit 3-1 past the Hammers who are 12th on the English topflight log.

Captain Vincent Kompany and Leroy Sane remain absent while new signing, Claudio Bravo was not included in the 18-man squad announced by City.
Guardiola’s side are unbeaten and top the table ahead Chelsea and Manchester United on superior goal difference.
Iheanacho is expected in Nigeria later this week as he is expected to feature for the Super Eagles in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania on September 3.
Though the three-time African kings would be missing out of Gabon 2017, the game would enable new gaffer Gernot Rohr access the squad ahead 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Zambia later this year.

Nigeria must negotiate their way past the Chipolopolo, Cameroon and Algeria to booked a ticket for the quadrennial football showpiece billed for Russia.
