Fans have their say on Yaya Toure’s Man City future

Yaya Toure: A shock inclusion
Yaya Toure’s return to the Manchester City side will not earn him a prolonged stay at the club, according to a fans’ poll.
TEAMtalk asked our readers what the future holds for the powerful Ivorian after he made his return to the starting line-up in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.
Brought out of exile by Pep Guardiola after the manager had made the midfielder pay for sniping remarks made by his agent, Toure scored in each half to earn City a precious three points on the road.
Yaya Toure: Celebrates the first goal
Still, most TEAMtalk readers who voted in our poll believe Toure and Guardiola’s reconciliation will only be brief.
When asked ‘what does the future hold for Yaya Toure?‘ just over 1000 readers replied:
27% think he’ll be sold in January
59% still think he’ll leave next summer
14% think he’ll earn a new deal
Yaya Toure: Put months of frustration behind him
Toure is out of contract in the summer and looks set to earn a bumper pay-day abroad, unless he can take his fine form from Selhurst Park into the rest of the season and make himself indispensable to Guardiola.
The 33-year-old was offered some encouragement by his manager, who was impressed with Toure’s response to being left out in the cold.
“He’s a very special player,” said Guardiola.
“His performance was not about my decision, it’s about his quality. Yaya was, for the last two months, training really well. His physical condition is better than ever. I’m so happy for him and his family.
“He’s now a real part of the team and can help us achieve our targets. We need this kind of player.
