President Jonathan is expected to host the Super Falcons, who emerged African Champions in Namibia, at a Federal Executive Council meeting on Wedesday
Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan will on Wednesday receive and honour the victorious Super Falcons, who won the 2014 African Women Championship for the seventh time in Namibia.
Minister of Sports Tammy Danagogo made this known at the victory dinner with the Super Falcons after they beat the Lionesses of Cameroon 2-0 in Saturday's final at the Sam Nujoma Stadium to emerge champions.
Danagogo, who is also the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, said President Jonathan will receive the team at a Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
He said the President is anxious to meet the Super Falcons, who have done the country proud in Namibia.
He also said the Nigerian delegation would upon their arrival in Abuja on Tuesday, be hosted by the National Sports Commission (NSC).
“I know it is not just going to be a presidential hand shake alone because he likes to appreciate those who do the country proud in any sector of national endeavour," Danagogo said while addressing the players.
The Super Falcons arrived in Nigeria on Monday morning from Windhoek, via Johannesburg. They will depart for Abuja on Tuesday.
