The Citizens chief saluted the "passion and
commitment" of Claudio Ranieri's men as they outfought their wealthier
league rivals to claim the championship for the first time
Claudio Ranieri's men defied all expectations to take a first ever league title in 2015-16, after narrowly avoiding relegation the previous season.
And speaking to the official Manchester City website, Al Mubarak affirmed that the club were an example to all.
"I think, as a football fan, it’s an incredible achievement and something I’m delighted for, for Leicester, for their fans, for everybody involved in that club," he said.
"It’s an incredible achievement and I think we can all say hats off and commend them, and I think it’s the right time, on behalf of everybody at Manchester City Football Club, to congratulate Leicester for this tremendous achievement."
The chairman believes that what Leicester lacked in financial power compared to their rivals, they more than made up with their willpower. "I take a lot from the passion they’ve shown. This was a team that from the first game of the season to the last game of the season, one thing you know is that they gave it all every game," he said.
"You had a team that fought had, that put a lot of passion, a lot of commitment, and you can see it in every game that they’ve played.
"And sometimes passion and commitment doesn’t win you trophies but certainly it pushes you to limits, and I think what Leicester did this year was, while they didn’t have the resources of many other clubs in the Premier League, they had passion and commitment in abundance and that won them the league."
