The Dream Team VI coach has described the football
legend who passed on Wednesday morning as a role model following his
return from South Korea
The 48-year-old who spoke to media at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on arrival from South Korea, said he had been weeping since the news got to him.
Siasia was a member of the Super Eagles who won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations which Keshi captained and his predecessor as a coach in charge of the senior national team in 2011.
"Well, I just can't stop crying - it was just so sad," Siasia told media upon his return from the Suwon Invitational Tournament in South Korea.
"Somebody from the US just sent me a WhatsApp message around 1am last night when we got to Ethiopia that Keshi was dead and that the news was on the internet.
"I tried to ignore it saying this cannot be true, but asked my personal assistant to confirm it on online. He just lost his wife five months ago.
"We're going to miss him. He is a friend, brother, captain and role model. We went to US to visit and condole him now this has happened. It just painful now."
On immortalizing the African legend, Siasia appealed that a statue of the late hero be erected at the national stadium to honour his great exploits for the country.
"To immortalize him, I think it is the responsibility of the family and football body, but iIm just a friend.
