The Belgium international hopes to have a "good World
Cup" as he looks to earn himself a summer transfer and claims "many
clubs" are interested in him
Romelu Lukaku has told Chelsea that he wants to leave the club this summer. The striker is yet to spend a full season at Stamford Bridge, despite joining from Anderlecht in 2011, and has enjoyed two prolific loan spells at West Brom and Everton.
Despite scoring 15 Premier League goals at Goodison Park this season, Chelsea are close to signing Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, which will push Lukaku further down the pecking order.
And the 21-year-old has now revealed that he will look to impress the “many clubs” who are interested in acquiring his signature by spearheading Belgium's campaign in Brazil.
“You know Chelsea, every year they buy a new top striker,” Lukaku told reporters.
“I remember me coming into the dressing room last year and seeing Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba and going, ‘Whoah! What’s happening here?’
“But no problem. Many clubs are interested in me. At this stage, I have to look to myself.
“I have to play a good World Cup. That’s very interesting for all the players looking for a transfer. And I must be one of them. Chelsea know my point of view.”
